Cheviot are among the smaller of the sheep breeds, originally bred to withstand the damp and cool weather of the Cheviot Hills, located between Scotland and England.
Cheviot wool has a helical crimp, which makes for a nice springy yarn with good resilience. It is a good wool to spin on its own, or to blend with other fibers. It’s also great for beginner spinners!
